One of the first YouTubers I ever subscribed to back in 2007 was Dulce Candy. Ever since she has been my favorite. Dulce recently announced the Pixi + Dulce Candy collaboration. It consists of two palettes. Café con Dulce and Dulce’s Lip Candy. I purchased Café con Dulce at Target for $24. The first thing that comes to mind when I see this palette is spring. Look at those shades! They’re beautiful.
In my opinion, the first row is all highlighters. The second-row blushes and the third-row eyeshadows. The first time I used the palette, I wasn’t impressed. The pigmentation just wasn’t there. My eyes looked as if I had only applied shimmer. Of course, I wanted to give the palette another chance so I continued using it. After using this palette several times, I find that the best way to use it is with fix plus or your fingertips. It’s so weird how the shades are buttery but they don’t apply as such on the lids unless your brush is wet. Without the Fix Plus, the shades look the same. The blush shades didn’t work for me. Perhaps because of my complexion. I get no color payoff. I can’t wear them alone because it looks as if I applied shimmer on my cheeks. It’s best to use a cream blush before and then apply these. The highlight shades are nice and I have enjoyed using them.
In this picture, I applied Tamarindo on my lid without Fix Plus on the left and with it on the right. As you can see, the color payoff is much better when the brush is wet. Look at the brush as well. The shade adheres a lot more to the brush. Tamarindo is my favorite shade. I have been wearing it so often. The palette has so much potential if only the shadows would be as buttery on the eyes as they swatch. I love Dulce and even if the palette didn’t turn out to be one of my faves, I am still 100% glad that I purchased it. I am not saying it’s terrible, but it could have been better. The packaging and colors are perfect. Did you purchase this palette? What are your thoughts on it?
